ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS JOHN PAUL II ON
THE OCCASION OF THE INAUGURAL LONDON-ROME FLIGHT OF AIR EUROPE
Consistory Hall
Saturday, 17 June 1989
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am pleased that the inaugural London-Rome flight of Air Europe has made
possible your visit today with the Pope. I wish to greet each of you most
cordially on this special occasion.
The relative ease of modern travel and communication opens up new possibilities
for greater understanding and collaboration among people of different nations
and cultures. Europe, in particular, is experiencing a renewed sense of unity in
diversity on many levels. Your presence here today is a sign of the increasing
exchange of ideas as a result of tourism, business, and cultural and academic
activities.
With you I offer a special prayer today for all travellers, that their journeys
may be safe and happy, and I invoke upon all of you your loved ones an abundance
of divine blessings.
