Evening prayer in St Peter’ s Square

Winter time 7.00 p. m. // Summer time 7.30 p. m

Pilgrims should be in St Peter’s Square about half an hour beforehand.

Every evening - except when there are particular Jubilee events at the same hour - pilgrims in Rome are invited to take part in an evening prayer encounter in St Peter’s Square. This simple yet significant manner of concluding the day will also be an opportunity for the various pilgrim groups and individual visitors to come together and pray  in the very place where St Peter the Apostle was martyred and buried. This evening prayer with other pilgrims could be a way of beginning or ending the stay in Rome.

The prayers will last about thirty minutes and have the following pattern:

an invitation to praise the Lord;
the reading of the Gospel;
the singing of the Creed,
prayers for the intentions of the Pope, for the needs of the Church and the world,
the singing of the Our Father,
the Apostolic Blessing of the Holy Father by the Vatican Radio.

Pilgrims may bring a candle to light during the prayers.

Any groups who will come are kindly asked to inform of : Ufficio Liturgico Grande Giubileo
