Mass Media Committee

To inform and communicate: these are the goals of the committee presided over by Bishop Pierfranco Pastore. The commitment to be carried out translates into identifying the means and the languages best suited to establishing the creative and vital dialogue among the active forces in the Church.

The job has many vast dimensions and contains all the problematics connected on one side to globalization of communications "in real time" and on the other to the profound differences in technological and economic development in the various regions of the earth, which are reflected also in the cultural modalities of the acceptance of the messages proposed by the Church.

It is to respond to this challenge that the Mass Media Committee places itself at the service of the Central Committee of the great Jubilee of the year 2000, by means of diverse tools adapted to the different realities to be involved together.

The information of the Jubilee, indeed taking advantage even of the technologically advanced means, cannot ignore the diverse realities of development present in the world. The Agency's project of publishing a booklet on paper is necessary that it might meet the exigencies of countries which do not yet have full access to the more modern technologies of communication.
