CAPPELLA PAPALE

FOR THE DECEASED POPES
PAUL VI AND JOHN PAUL I

 

On Thursday, 28 September 2000, at 11:30 a.m., His Holiness Pope John Paul II will celebrate Mass at the Altar of the Chair in the Patriarchal Vatican Basilica for the repose of the souls of the deceased Popes Paul VI and John Paul I.

Those Cardinals who wish to concelebrate are asked to meet at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacristy of the Basilica in order to vest. They should bring with them the white damask mitre.

All those who, in conformity with the Motu Proprio "Pontificalis Domus", are members of the Cappella Pontificia and wish to take part in the Liturgical Celebration are asked to be present by 11:00 a.m. at the Altar of the Chair, where they will take their assigned places.

The following indications are given with regard to dress:

— The Cardinals, Patriarchs, Archbishops, and Bishops wear the rochet and mozzetta over their proper choir dress;

— Abbots and Religious vest in their proper choir dress.

— Prelates wear the rochet and mantelletta, or the surplice, over the purple cassock and purple sash, according to their rank;

— Chaplains of His Holiness wear the surplice over the black cassock with purple piping and purple sash;

— Parish Priests of Rome wear surplice and stole.
