"L'Osservatore Romano"

Editions in Italian

«L'Osservatore Romano », the Vatican newspaper, has been published daily since 1861.
It is the source of information concerning the Holy See.
As a sort of spokesman of the universal Church, it reports on the life of Catholics in the various countries and continents.
In Italian two other editions are also published:
" L'Osservatore Romano ", Sunday edition, and " L'Osservatore Romano ", weekly edition.

Editions in Other Languages

In 1946, after the Second World War, a weekly edition of " L'Osservatore Romano " in French began publication.
Following many request for the teachings of the Pope to be translated and published in orther languages too, a series of weekly editions was introduced:
in English (1968), in Spanish (1969), in Portuguese (1970), in German (1971) and the monthly one in Polish (1980).

The aim of these editions is the same of the daily edition:
to spread the words of the Pope, the documents of the Offices of the Holy See and news on life of the Church in the various countries and continents.
