Tobin of Youngstown, U.S.A., as bishop of Providence (area 3,143, population
1,063,200, Catholics 649,188, priests 407, permanent deacons 107, religious
895), U.S.A. He succeeds Bishop Robert E. Mulvee whose resignation from the
pastoral care of the same diocese was accepted by the Holy Father, upon having
reached the age limit.
