By virtue of its statutes, Vatican Radio, the radio broadcasting station of the Holy See (art. 15), is exclusively responsible for the creation, preservation and management of the voice archives of the Holy Father, and safeguards every aspect of the relative copyrights and intellectual property.

In addition, it makes known that the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI has entrusted to Vatican Radio the exercise and care of all intellectual property and copyrights on recordings of his own voice that date back to the period prior to his elevation to the Chair of Peter, with the exception of rights legitimately acquired by third parties.
