MISSIONARY INTENTIONS

July: That catechists and lay missionaries may not lack the necessary solid pastoral training. 

August: That the Church in China may be animated by profound evangelical spirituality of contemplative life, reaching out towards China's great tradition. 

September: That the population of Indonesia, compounded of many ethnic groups, languages, cultures and religions, may increasingly try to build a more democratic and just future in mutual respect and harmony. 

October: That at the dawn of the third Christian millennium the missionary impetus of the first Pentecost may be renewed. 

November: That, through the active participation of Christians, mass media may be instruments of missionary evangelisation. 

December: That Christian humanism may illuminate, through Gospel values, the cultures of Asia.

Second National Congress of Missionary Youth. 

AUGUST 13-18, SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO: 
Meetings with the Press, with pastoral care workers etc. 

SEPTEMBER 9-14, COLOMBO, SRI LANKA: 
First School of Missionary Animators (SOMA) for 25 Asian bishops. 

OCTOBER 17-20, KINGSTON, JAMAICA: 
Facilitator at the Annual meeting of PMS diocesan directors in the Caribbean. 

OCTOBER 25-28, ROME: 
Fourth Meeting of the directors of the Missionary Childhood for Mediterranean Countries with those for Eastern European Countries. 

NOVEMBER 6-8, ROME: 
PMS Restricted General Assembly.
