The Church and Children
NEW PREFECT OF THE
CONGREGATION FOR THE EVANGELISATION OF PEOPLES
After 16 years of dedicated service in favour of missions
in the whole world, His Eminence Cardinal Jozef Tomko has left the post
of Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples. The
Pontifical Missionary Societies constitute one branch of this congregation
and, in turn, the Missionary Childhood or Holy Childhood constitutes a branch
of the Pontifical Missionary Societies. The Holy Father has appointed His
Eminence Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe as the new Prefect of the
congregation.
In the name of millions of children who make up the
Missionary Childhood in all corners of the earth, we would like to express our
profound gratitude to His Eminence Card. Tomko and extend a cordial
welcome to the new prefect, Card. Sepe.

"What would have become of the Jubilee
without the children's voices, their happiness and their joy of life?
And what would have become of the Jubilee without their 'input'? In
one case or the other, we would have lost something". (His
Eminence Card. Crescenzio Sepe)

"Jesus does not ask for great deeds but
only for sacrifice and gratitude. He has no need of our works but only
of our love. We must rediscover this attitude which is that of the
child". (St. Teresita of the Child Jesus)
