 From 1-6 June 2008, the Pontifical Council COR UNUM has organised a cycle of Spiritual Exercises conducted by the Preacher of the Papal Household, Father Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap. All those who are responsible for Diocesan and National Caritas of the American continent have been invited, as well as other Catholic Organisations working in the field of social and charitable works, such as the St. Vincent de Paul Society. This initiative is a direct application of Pope Benedict XVI’s first Encyclical, Deus Caritas est, as a stimulus to strengthen the spiritual formation of those working in and for Catholic charitable Organisations.
