"COR
UNUM" PUBLISHES THE
"ACTS
OF THE WORLD CONGRESS ON CHARITY"
In
recent days the Pontifical Council "Cor Unum" has published the
complete volume of the "Acts of the World Congress on Charity" held
in Rome from 12 to 15 May 1999.
Two
hundred persons, including Bishops, theologians, experts, representatives of
national and international organisations coming from 70 countries and 5
continents participated at the Congress.
Many of the themes addressed followed the methodology of "seeing,
judging, acting" with the scope of deepening the Christian roots of
Charity at a moment in history, which is identified by the Holy Father as a
privileged model for new evangelisation.
The
two collections (the English edition of pp. 304 and the Spanish edition of pp.
316, both costing US $15.) contain also the Homily and Message of Pope John
Paul II on the occasion of the World Day of Charity.
Over 40,000 people representing Catholic volunteer associations and
international charitable organisations attended the World Day of Charity
celebrated in St. Peters Square at the end of the Congress.
