"COR
UNUM" PUBLISHES THE FIFTH EDITION OF THE
"CATHOLIC
AID DIRECTORY"
The
Pontifical Council "Cor Unum" has recently published, in book format
and as a CD Rom, the "Catholic Aid Directory" (CAD), an updated guide
of some 1100 Entities, ONGs, International and National Catholic Offices active
in the socio-charitable area. It is
an attempt to respond to the growing need of information on the part of Dioceses,
Missionary Congregations, ONGs, public institutions, and Volunteer associations
that carry out work throughout the world.
The
first part of the CAD (Libreira Editrice Vaticana, pp. 580 and costs US $25 for
the book and US $15 for the CD Rom) lists in four languages (English, French,
Spanish, Italian) a series of information and useful fact sheets to consult.
The second part is a list of socio-charitable Entitles with their
necessary information: continent,
region, country, address, telephone number, fax, e-mail, etc.
For each entity, it is indicted if it finances projects or not, what type
of projects it supports and in which countries it is operative.
This
volume, which traces the "map" of charity in the world, hopes to be at
the end of the year dedicated to Charity in preparation for the Great Jubilee of
2000, a witness developed by the Church, of the universal service to the poorest
of the poor. But also a service to
the communities most in need to contact institutions, which support
socio-charitable projects.
