Prot. N.3344/2007/M-R Dear Dr. Camilleri, Today the Dicastery received, with pleasure, the notice of your nomination for the Nansen Refugee Award 2007. On behalf of His Eminence Cardinal Martino, who is on a journey in Asia, and of myself with the entire community of this Pontifical Council, united with you, we convey our profound congratulations. The Nansen award is given to outstanding figures and/or organisations who work for the benefit of those who have to flee their country and calling attention to all those whose human rights are violated. JRS has since its existence been in the first line in the promotion of the dignity of refugees by assisting them to restore their physical, psychological and social well-being, with also moral and spiritual values. I cordially express to you therefore our gratitude for all your efforts, many times under difficult circumstances, to improve and increase refugee admission to Malta. The Christian witness and service your office promotes are certainly significant. May the Lord strengthen you and your staff in this task, and bless you all.
