Your Excellency,

We have heard with great sadness of the news of the fire which occurred in a shelter for homeless people in your country, in which some persons have died and others have suffered injuries.

We wish, as Pontifical Council in charge of the pastoral care of Migrants and Itinerant People, to express to you, as Bishop of Helsinki, and to all those affected by this tragedy, the assurance of our prayers, entrusting  the deceased and the injured to the love of  God.

 I also convey the deep sympathy of the President of our Pontifical Council, who is currently absent from the office, and I remain,
