XI
ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS
THE FINAL LIST OF PROPOSITIONS
The official Latin text of The Final List of Propositions
of the Eleventh Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, subject to
individual vote by the synod fathers, is intended for the Supreme Pontiff, to
whom it will be duly submitted. By its very nature, this text is confidential
and will not be published, in keeping with the consultative character of the
synod’s work, since the text decidedly contains recommendations.
This time only, the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has
graciously allowed the provisional and unofficial Italian-language text, done
by the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops, to be published in the Holy
See Press Office Bulletin.
In this regard, it must said that the Propositions are the
culminating point of a long synod process, which can eventually become a part of
a pontifical document. Their inclusion, however, in no way lessens the
contributions of the Lineamenta, the Instrumentum Laboris, the
Disceptatio in Aula, beginning with the Relatio Ante Disceptationem
and ending with the Relatio Post Disceptationem, and the Nuntius
(Message). The work of the Circuli Minores (small working groups)
resulted in a consensus of opinion among the synod fathers, who listened to each
other during open discussion, in a climate of intense episcopal communion cum
Petro et sub Petro.
The unofficial version in Italian was published in the pluri-lingual
and Italian editions of the Bulletin.
