DONATIONS TO THE HOLY FATHER'S CHARITY

Through "Cor Unum", the Holy Father expresses his solicitude for the victims of natural disasters, conflicts, poverty, and hunger, demonstrating the spiritual and paternal closeness of the Universal Church to the populations in developing countries, encouraging the integral promotion of the human person, and contributing to projects in favor of children, women, the elderly, the disabled, and those in greatest need.

There are also two Papal Foundations: the John Paul II for the Sahel Foundation, which is engaged in the battle against desertification and in fostering development in the African nations of that region; and the Populorum Progressio Foundation, which finances projects for the campesino community, including mixed-race and Afro-american poor in the countries of Latin America.
