1. What is it?

The WMF is a very large gathering convened by the Holy Father every three years in order to pray, dialogue, learn and share regarding the role of the Christian family as the domestic church and basic unit of the new evangelization.

The previous World Meetings were held in:

- Rome 1994

- Brazil 1997

- Rome 2000

- Manila 2003

VALENCIA 2006

Our Fifth World Meeting of Families will be held in Valencia (Spain) from July 1-9, 2006.

The theme of the Meeting will be: “THE TRANSMISSION OF FAITH IN THE FAMILY”.

2. Visual Identity

2.1 LOGO

2.2 WEB PAGE

2.1 THE LOGO

The Family, the basic cell of society

In the drawing, the family is conceptualized as a cell, and all the cells together make up the social fabric.

The Family Around the World

The logo gives the idea of the globe, while the colors represent the different human cultures and races. This all signifies that the meeting is a world event.

The Cross

This is the mark the Christian family bears in order to be the LordÂ’s presence in the whole world.

2.2 WEB PAGE

http://wmf2006.org/en

A web page has been created that is constantly updated so that users can keep informed about everything related to the V WMF.  They can consult material ranging from the history of all the previous World Meetings, to documents and news, as well as find links to other interesting Catholic websites and download videos and images.

REGISTRATION WEB PAGE

Regular participation in the events of the V WMF requires registration.

This can be done through the parishes, dioceses, movements, associations, educational centers, clubs and other organizations to which the members of each group are linked.

Registration can also be done on-line through the web page by the Local Promoters.

VOLUNTEERSÂ’ WEB PAGE

Since very great numbers of people are expected, the Fifth WMF will need the unprecedented help of volunteers in carrying out the event.

For this reason, it is necessary to begin by defining what a volunteer is, who can be one, where they can register, etc.

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, it has an important transportation and communication network, in addition to enjoying a climate that is very agreeable to all those who come to visit.

It also has infrastructures and services that are perfectly equipped to handle a great number of people.

WMF 2006 AREA

Situation and Access

The area around the “City of Arts and Sciences” where the Fifth World Meeting of Families will be held was chosen for the following reasons.

- The available area (647,395 m₂) will make it possible for more than 1,200,000 persons to take part in the event in places close to the main setting.

- The area can be reached from any point in the city through large, wide roads and avenues that channel the flow of traffic.  It is easy to reach from the beltway and the ring road without interrupting city traffic.

- It is also possible to arrive through the old riverbed road (now converted into a garden).  Participants can safely walk along this road to the meeting area.

- It is an emblematic area because the City of Arts and Sciences and its surroundings are reference points in Valencia today.
