PONTIFICAL COUNCIL FOR THE FAMILY WORLD CONGRESS OF FAMILIES V
In August 10-12 this year, Amsterdam will be hosting the World Congress of Families V, on the subject of Modern Families, Traditional Values. The Pontifical Council for the Family will be represented by Msgr Carlos Simón Vázquez, Sub-secretary. In addition, the speakers program for the World Congress of Families V is honored with the participation of prominent pro-family leaders and teachers. The purpose of this Amsterdam World Congress is to affirm that the natural human family is established by the Creator and therefore essential to good society. Acknowledging the many challenges faced by the natural institution of the family's, the Congress aims at serving the vital role that the family plays within society. The family is the fundamental social unit, inscribed in human nature, and based upon marriage, a life-long commitment between a man and a woman, which of its very nature is ordered for the well-being of the spouses and for the natural procreation and upbringing of children. Therefore, in view of their nature, stable families that welcome children, are fundamental and necessary for healthy society. The society that abandons the natural family as is destined for chaos and suffering. Contrarily, the loving family reaches out in love and service to their communities and those in need. All social and cultural institutions should respect and uphold the rights and responsibilities of the family.
