♦ WORKING GROUPS: FIFTH, SIXTH AND SEVENTH SESSION

Tuesday in the afternoon and Wednesday, October 18th and 19th 2005, the discussions in the Working Groups continued. There were 240 Fathers present at the Fifth Session, 235 in the Sixth and 167 in the Seventh.

The last phase of the work in the Working Groups ended with the approval by each Working Group on the collective amendments, through an absolute majority ballot, and given by the Relators of the Working Groups to the General Secretariat of the Synod of the Bishops, on Wednesday in the evening at the end of the discussion in the Working Groups.

The result of the work of the General Relator with the Special Secretary, the Relators of the Working Groups and some expert will be presented in the form of a Final List of Propositions, during the Twenty-first General Congregation today afternoon Friday October 21th 2005, with the balloting foreseen during the Twenty.-second and last General Congregation tomorrow morning Saturday October 22th 2005.

♦ TWENTIETH GENERAL CONGREGATION (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16th 2005 - MORNING)

● Presentation and voting on the Message of the Synod of Bishops to the People of God

At 09.10 today Friday October 21st , with the prayer of the Third Hour, the Twentieth General Congregation took place, for the presentation and balloting on the Message of the Synod of Bishops to the People of God, edited in 5 language versions. The definitive text will be published on the Bulletin of the Synod of Bishops.

The President Delegate on duty was H. Em. Card. Francis ARINZE, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

This General Congregation ended at 12:30 p.m. with the prayer Angelus Domini and 245 Fathers were present.

The Twenty-first General Congregation, for the presentation of the Final List of Propositions, will take place today, Friday October 21st 2005, in the afternoon.

The Twenty-second and last General Congregation, to vote for the Propositions will take place tomorrow, Saturday 22nd October 2005, in the morning.

The Fraternal Meal with the Holy Father will take place tomorrow, Saturday 22nd October 2005, at 1:00 p.m.

● THIRD PRESS CONFERENCE

We would like to inform the accredited journalists that Saturday 22 October 2005, at 12:15, in the John Paul II Hall of the Holy See Press Office, the Third Press Conference on the work by the XI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (Elenchus finalis) will take place.
