This is the last number of the “Synodus Episcoporum” Bulletin, published by the Holy See Press Office with information on the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which took place from October 7 to 28 2012 in the Vatican, on the theme “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith”.

This Temporary Office was also in charge of sending all the information released in real time to Vatican Radio and L’Osservatore Romano, and publishing on the Vatican’s website.

PUBLICATIONS

“SYNODUS EPISCOPORUM” BULLETIN

During the
XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, the “Synodus Episcopo­rum” Bulletin was published in the plurilingual, Italian, English, French, Spanish and German versions, giving accredited journalists the chance to follow the work of the Synod on a day-to-day basis. It also allowed the Synodal Fathers to have an immediate summary of the work that took place. Finally, through the Internet, it reached the media operators and non-journalistic organizations throughout the world.

From October 5 to 28 2012, 35 editions of the “Synodus Episcoporum” Bulletin were published with an overall circulation of about 1,183 copies (273 plurilingual, 256 Italian, 229 English, 180 French, 157 Spanish, and 96 German) totaling 41,405 copies in the 6 language editions. Also, various issues in the different languages were reprinted.

ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SERVICE

The Temporary Office of the “Fungo” of the Holy See Press Office, in charge of the publication and translation of information on the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, made available in electronic form all the information released, with a total of 1.850 files for 370 texts in the 5 language versions (Italian, English, French, Spanish and German) and of 210 files for the 35 numbers of the “Synodus Episcoporum” Bulletin in 6 language versions (plurilingual, Italian, English, French, Spanish and German), to the Graphics Office of L’Osservatore Romano, to SEDOC (Central Documentation Service) of Vatican Radio.

It was also in charge, for the ninth time, for the HTML and Internet publication of the “Synodus Episcoporum” Bulletin, in the 6 language versions (plurilingual, Italian, English, French, Spanish and German), available on the Vatican’s website (http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/synod/index_en.htm). From 7 to 28 October 2012, the section dedicated to the Synod of Bishops on the site www.vatican.va was accessed 50.503 times. The Bulletin was consulted 21.822 times, on a daily average of 1.039 times (plurilingual edition 5.628 times, Italian 15.459 times, English 11.108 times, French 2.777 times, Spanish 10.301 times, German 1.125 times), with accessed from 139 Countries.

The content of the“Synodus Episcoporum” Bulletin could be accessed from Vatican Radio’s Interactive website map, available at http://www.radiovaticana.org.

ACCREDITATION

For this XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, in addition to the permanently accredited journalists, another 172 correspondents were accredited, who came specially to Rome from 23 countries, representing 122 newspapers and broadcast organizations to cover this event.
