What is beauty? – asks
Cardinal Paul Poupard in his
conference on Sacred
Art and Christianity.
With the incarnation, God has taken on the form of man. Certainly, there is an
abyss between the ineffable beauty of God and its vestiges in creation. As the
beauty of Christ leads to the divine source of this beauty, at the same time
it invites man to express himself through the beauty of the works of his hands.
Thus, the Christian artist becomes a witness, through his works, of divine

l’incarnazione, Dio prende forma di uomo. Certamente, esiste un abisso tra
la bellezza ineffabile di Dio e i suoi vestigi nella creazione. Giacché la
bellezza di Cristo conduce alla fonte divina di questa, nello stesso tempo
invita l’uomo ad esprimersi attraverso la bellezza delle opere delle sue
mani. Pertanto, l’artista cristiano diventa

Sagrado y Cristianismo. Con la Encarnación, Dios asume la forma
de hombre. Ciertamente existe un abismo entre la belleza inefable de Dios y
sus huellas en la creación. Ya que la belleza de Cristo conduce a la fuente
divina de esta, al mismo tiempo invita al hombre a expresarse por medio de las
bellezas surgidas por la obra de sus manos. Por tanto, el artista cristiano se
convierte en testigo a través de sus obras, de la belleza divina.
Le
Conseil Pontifical de la Culture a organisé pour la première fois à Puebla
de los Angeles, du 4 au 7 juin 2001, une Rencontre de ses Membres et
Consulteurs du continent américain à laquelle ont participé, dès le deuxième
jour, les Évêques présidents des Commissions culturelles des Conférences
épiscopales de tous les pays d’Amérique. Six cardinaux, 26 archevêques et
évêques, six prêtres et quatre laïcs ont pris part aux travaux sur le thème
de La culture à
l’horizon de la transmission de l’Évangile. From
4th to 7th June, 2001, for the first time, the Pontifical Council for Culture
held at Puebla de los Angeles, Mexico, a meeting of its Members and Consultors
of the American continent, in which the Bishop Presidents of the Commissions
for Culture of the Episcopal Conferences of all the countries of America
participated. In the proceedings on Culture
in the context of the transmission of the Gospel six cardinals,
twenty-six archbishops and bishops, six priests and four lay people took part. Nei giorni 4-7 giugno 2001, per la prima volta, il Pontificio Consiglio della Cultura ha tenuto a Puebla de los Angeles, Messico, una riunione dei suoi Membri e Consultori del continente americano, alla quale hanno partecipato, dal secondo giorno, i Vescovi Presidenti delle Commissioni Culturali delle Conferenze Episcopali di tutti i Paesi d’America. Ai lavori su La cultura nell’orizzonte della trasmissione del Vangelo hanno preso parte sei cardinali, ventisei arcivescovi e vescovi, sei sacerdoti e quattro laici.
Afin
de publier des initiatives concrètes prises en rapport avec la pastorale de
la culture de part et d’autre dans le monde, et pour aider avant tout les
Conférences épiscopales qui n’ont pas encore de Commission pour la
culture, est faite une présentation de la Commission
Foi et Culture
de la Conférence épiscopale d’Argentine. Outre sa structure et sa
composition, ses activités et les défis majeurs de son engagement sont brièvement
décrits. With the intention of publishing the concrete initiatives of the entire world in the field of a pastoral approach to culture and, above all, to provide help to the Episcopal Conferences that do not still have a Commission for Culture, the Commission for Faith and Culture of the Episcopal Conference of Argentina is being presented. Besides its structure and composition, a brief description of its activities and the major challenges in its commitment is given. Con l’intento di pubblicare iniziative concrete dal mondo intero nell’ambito della pastorale della cultura e, anzitutto, per fornire aiuto alle Conferenze Episcopali che non hanno ancora una Commissione per la Cultura, viene presentata la Commissione per la Fede e Cultura della Conferenza Episcopale d’Argentina. Oltre alla sua struttura e composizione, si dà un breve quadro delle sue attività e delle sfide maggiori nel suo impegno. * * * La

des cultures, ne manque pas. Dans ce numéro, sont brièvement présentés
deux Orientations pastorales : celles de la Conférence
épiscopale d’Uruguay pour la période 2001-2005, publiées le 25
avril 2001, et celles de la Conférence
épiscopale d’Italie pour la première décennie du Troisième Millénaire,
du 29 juin 2001, avec pour titre, Communiquer
l’Évangile dans un monde qui change. Episcopal
Conferences have not neglected the sector of culture, the rapport between
faith and culture, the inculturation of the Gospel and the evangelisation of
cultures. In this issue, the review offers a brief presentation of two Pastoral
Orientations: those of the Episcopal
Conference of Uruguay for the period 2001-2005, published on 25th
April, 2001, and those of the Episcopal
Conference of Italy
for the first decade of the Third Millennium, of 29th June, 2001, which
has for its title Communicating the Gospel in a changing world. Non manca l’attenzione delle Conferenze Episcopali verso il settore della cultura, per il rapporto tra fede e cultura, l’inculturazione del Vangelo e l’evangelizzazione delle culture. In questo numero, la rivista dà una breve presentazione di due Orientamenti pastorali: quelli della Conferenza Episcopale d’Uruguay per il periodo 2001-2005, pubblicati il 25 aprile 2001 e quelli della Conferenza Episcopale Italiana per il primo decennio del Terzo Millennio, del 29 giugno 2001 con il titolo Comunicare il Vangelo in un mondo che cambia. No
está ausente la atención de las Conferencias Episcopales hacia el área
Cultura, por la continua relación entre y Fe y Cultura, inculturación del
Evangelio y evangelización de las culturas. En este número, la revista
ofrece una breve presentación de dos Orientaciones
pastorales: La de la Conferencia
Episcopal del Uruguay para el periodo 2001-2005, publicado el 25 de
abril de 2001 y la de la Conferencia
Episcopal Italiana para el primer decenio del Tercer Milenio, emitida
el 29 de junio de 2001 con el título comunicar
el Evangelio en un mundo que cambia.
Cette
rubrique présente le compte-rendu des activités de six Académies
Pontificales: l’Académie Pontificale de Saint Thomas d’Aquin,
l’Académie Pontificale de Théologie, l’Académie Pontificale de
l’Immaculée, l’Académie Pontificale Mariale Internationale, l’Académie
Pontificale des Beaux-Arts et des Lettres des Virtuoses au Panthéon et
l’Académie Pontificale “Cultorum Martyrum”. In
the section fittingly dedicated to them,
the
summaries of the activities of six of the seven Pontifical
Academies are presented. The Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas of
Aquinas, the Pontifical Academy of Theology, the Pontifical Academy of the
Immaculate, the Pontifical International Marian Academy, the Pontifical
Academy of the Fine Arts and Letters «Virtuosi al Pantheon» and the
Pontifical Academy «Cultorum Martyrum». En
