Friar’s text

Every Sunday you can see the Pope praying the Angelus on Sunday, from the penultimate third-floor window of the Apostolic Palace,.
The palace was rebuilt by Pope Sixtus V (1585-1590) who commissioned Domenico Fontana, his favorite architect. The work was conducted with extraordinary speed in just two years (1589-1590). Despite this diligence Sixtus V died shortly before it was completed. The palace was finished during the pontificate of Clement VIII (1592-1605) by the architect Taddeo Landini.
The first Angelus broadcast by radio is dated August 15, 1954, with the permission of Pope Pius XII (1939-1958).
Pope Francis (2013 -) is the first pope not to reside in the Papal apartments, but in the "Domus Sanctae marthae" inside the Vatican. The apartment is only used to welcome foreign delegations and for private interviews.
You can find the text of the prayer in "More information"
